How The Ordinary Becomes Extraordinary

The Paris Agreement on Climate Change was signed in December 2015 by the largest number of nations to ever sign any international agreement/treaty. It is intended to provide a ‘common market’ within which the sovereign nations commit to restoring, repairing, and saving the world and its climate from the ravages of the fossil fuel age. The principal problem of those emissions is the CO2, plant food, that comes from burning all that fossil carbon.

That ‘climate change’ is taking place, while resisted via political debate by some, is universally accepted by the world of science and industry. The change is taking place due to the undisputed emissions of a trillion tonnes of CO2 over the course of modern history, all of the yesterday’s of our industrial world. The environmental impact of that yesterday’s CO2 is causing ALL of today’s climate change. Our yesterday’s injected the first lethal overdose for which an antidote must now be administered. Surely this won’t be all we must do and we must also curtail repeating the trillion tonnes lethal overdose by reducing tomorrow’s CO2 emissions.

Taking charge of providing the antidote to yesterday’s CO2 is our business.  To do this we have signed on to Team Nature. We restore trees and seas to be more exact. We are allies of the plant life that use the power of the sun and photosynthesis to repurpose our CO2 into new plant life.

How is this possible? It’s as easy as planting a seed, ideally of something that will grow into a great CO2 eating machine, they call these big, loving parts of nature, TREES.

The Unexpected Turn

The scale and scope of the CO2 crisis facing the world won’t be solved by growing trees alone, there simply isn’t sufficient tree-growing land available. But this must not deter us while TREES are not the perfect single silver bullet or antidote to save the world from the first deadly overdose of CO2 they can help an immense amount.  Along with restoring TREES everyone must develop and deliver just about every idea possible to save the world from all of yesterday’s CO2 and tomorrow’s as well.

The global commitment to spending hundreds of billions on climate change has seen a plethora of market makers emerge. Unfortunately, these market makers have been first and foremost focused on their business profits and not the end result.

Some nearly 20 years ago when the Kyoto Accord and its ‘climate markets’ began to be implemented the ‘market makers’ went wild. Climate credits, ‘carbon credits’ were a commodity that could be and were flipped in a market melee, this unrestrained profiteering by traders flourished with the markets achieving hundreds of billions in apparent trading value on mere millions of end-user product value. Unrestrained market fees became blood in the water.

Today the world, via the Paris Accord, has rewritten the climate market rule book. As a top-down accord where each nation governs the ‘climate values’ it trades the chaos of the Kyoto markets that arose in presence of an unfathomable central authority is gone.

What this new world needs are not climate bankers and brokers but rather depositor owned climate credit unions. In the grand and successful tradition and history of ‘credit unions or savings and loan associations,’ the producers will, by placing their ‘credits’ on deposit on the KlimaCoin platform, be able to not only have their deposits secure and available for instantaneous honest low fee transactions, they will become shareholders and owners of their ‘credit union’. Producers and farmers have always been drawn to the fairness and transparency of depositor owned credit unions.

How Crypto-Currency Ideas Will Help

The world is fascinated by and committed to ‘crypto-currency’ best known as BitCoin, Ether, and others. These crypto-pseudo-currencies have no real value as they exist only as an expression of complex distributed computer algorithms.  They are indeed highly valued, sought after, and traded by those seeking to accumulate wealth and those seeking to find more secure means for financial transactions.  As pseudo-currency utterly unsecured with nothing backing them, no nation, no deposits, no nothing, they are the definition of ‘volatile’ and  ‘uncertain.’

What the crypto-currencies lack most is a real foundation asset that backs them.  They need a real value like gold or fiat currency to which they are attached and in which they can be freely converted. A few fiat-backed crypto-coins that trade struggle with the reality that the real value to which they may be attached, dollars or gold, is simply more useful and valuable in its original form than as a crypto-currency.

There is a need for a ‘standard’ to base the next generation of crypto-currency. There is also a stated intention in the Paris Accord on Climate Change to find a means to employ a distributed ledger. Putting these both together and the answer is that it should be KlimaCoin, a ‘climate-carbon’ secured token.

KlimaCoin™ will be a new form of global crypto-currency where the foundation is ‘real’ value as opposed to pure speculative value as the present crypto-currencies are. It is clear that in these desperate times of climate change and environmental collapse ‘proof of work’ to restore and repair our environment and climate is far more useful and valuable to the world than gold. There is no clearer proof of positive intention and effect than a living growing plant that captures CO2 from the air and repurposes that CO2 into new life.

As people begin to buy climate-carbon, in the Paris Accord markets that begin in 2020, KlimaCoin intends to be trading.  The accumulation of KlimaCoin for many may satisfy their desire to accumulate wealth and to have their wealth generation do something more. The world will be closer to being restored and saved.

People might seek to  ‘mine’ their own KlimaCoins, but not by spending their money on computer crypto-mining rigs that consume staggering amounts of polluting electricity.  They might begin by paying for some of the poorest people of the world, seasonal workers, to gather the true seeds of change, tree seeds.  Those who participate will see their environmental and climate restoration action turn into their wealth as measured living trees and accounted in the form of KlimaCoins on their crypto-ledger.

As each tiny acorn is collected from amongst the golden leaves of autumn surely the future will begin to be saved, from tiny acorns mighty oak trees grow. Each tree mines some of the trillion tonnes of yesterday’s industrial age carbon from the air and repurposes it into new life.
